Competitions are open to all members in good standing who have paid their current dues.
Photographs in the color and the black & white categories must have been taken by the competitor within two years of the competition date. Themed competition photographs have no time limit.
Members may compete in either Class AA, Class A, or Class B.
Class AA competitors include all those individuals who have earned 15 or more points in any one year's competitions or those individuals who consider themselves to be advanced photographers and voluntarily elect to participate Class AA.
Class A competitors include all those individuals who have earned 15 or more points in any one year's competitions or those individuals who consider themselves to be experienced photographers and voluntarily elect to participate in Class A.
Class B competitors include all members new to the club (except for the above choice), those who have earned less than 15 points in the previous years competitions and those who consider themselves to be relatively inexperienced in photographic competitions
A member must state his/her choice of class on entering his/her first competition.
Once in Class AA, a member may not revert to Class A
Once in Class A, a member may not revert to Class B.
The following may be ntered into each competition.
Prints must be at least 5 X 7 inches (35 sq. in.) and no more than 11 x 14 inches (154 sq in).
Prints must be mounted or matted (single mat only) for all categories. The mount or mat may be any color in a workmanlike fashion. Mounting or matting cannot be larger than 16 x 20 inches. (No frames or glass they won't fit in the display box and glass could break.)
The back of each mounting board must have a contest label (provided at the contest) showing the Title and Membership number. An arrow should point to the top of the print for proper orientation for viewing.
The original image must be made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or digital print medium as well as canvas and metal. All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by someone else.
If the presentation does not meet specifications, the print will be disqualified and returned to photographer.
Judges shall be instructed to score the photos according to the following criteria:
Judges shall award points by scoring machine or in writing based on a 9-point system by the following evaluations:
A First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention winner or winners/ties will be selected for each category at each competition. "Award Points" shall be assigned as follows:
There will be two (2) Scavenger Hunts per year.
Dates to be announced at the beginning of each season.
Choose 6 categories and mount them on a 16x20 white foam core board or poster board.
Boards to be judged by members in attendance by voting for their favorite.
A First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention winner will be selected for each competition. "Award Points" shall be assigned as follows:
At year's end, the members who have accumulated the most points in that year's competitions shall be recognized with an award for First, Second, Third place and Honorable Mention in each Class.
